Curls are hugely popular now, but don’t ditch your straighteners and book a spiral perm just yet, this season’s curls temporary style fun and they’re about contrast, body and above all easy styling. This Style File is designed to help you create the curls you desire, fast...

Whatever tool you use,
curls can be quick and easy!
Step 1
Always use thermal protection when using any form of heat on your hair. We like Paul Mitchell Heat Seal because not only does it protect the hair from heat, it also helps to resist humidity and hold your style in place for longer.
Step 2
For the best finish start by blow drying or straightening the hair. This will provide you with an easy to manage base for creating curls.
Step 3
Divide the hair in half, from the parting in a straight line down to the nape of your neck, then clip one half out of the way.
Step 4
On the other side, use a pintail comb to make a horizontal section of hair at the bottom of your head (curling is easier when you work from the bottom to the top of the head). The smaller the section, the tighter the curl will be, larger sections will create waves.

Step 5 - Option 1
Using the Paul Mitchell Pro Smoother
• With relaxed tension, clamp the smoothers 1 inch from the scalp.

• Then twist them upwards by about 180 degrees.

• From this position gently and slowly (without stopping) slide the smoothers down the hair shaft. If it's jerky or making lines on the hair, you're holding the smoothers too tight. Loosen up!

• When the hair leaves the smoothers, while it's still hot, twirl the hair in your fingers to make sure it's the shape you want and is going in the right direction. If you want more of a wave, twirl in the direction you want and pull it down straight while it's cooling.

• Take the next horizontal section on that side and repeat all steps. Work the horizontal sections upwards one by one, when you have finished that side repeat all steps on the next.

Step 5 - Option 2
Using the Paul Mitchell Pro Curling Wand
• Clamp the section under the spoon lever.

• Wind the hair around the wand and hold for just a few seconds.

• Gently unclamp the hair and move the wand away from the curl without moving the curl.

• Take the next horizontal section on that side and repeat each step. Work the horizontal sections upwards, one by one and when you have finished that side move onto the next.

Step 6 - Finishing
PAUL MITCHELL GLOSS DROPS - Creates a silky, smooth finish and provides long-lasting shine. Resists humidity.

PAUL MITCHELL FOAMING POMADE - Gives intense shine and creates silky, smooth texture and control. It is highly concentrated so a little goes a long way. This product works particularly well on medium to thick and very curly or coarse hair.

Note; When using Gloss Drops or Foaming Pomade, spread the product evenly through the midlengths & ends. Avoid the root area.

PAUL MITCHELL WORKED UP - A hairspray that gives long-lasting flexible hold, enhances shine and reduces static.
